Showroom Manager & Designer

I’m Josie, the Remodeling Designer and Office Manager here at AP. At 21, I’ve grown up around construction and design, and now I have the privilege of leading our creative process and connecting with clients to bring their dream spaces to life. I also create 3D renderings for our client projects to help them visualize the finished design before we even begin. On top of that, I manage our marketing and social presence—so if you’ve seen our work online, I probably had a hand in sharing it!

My roots run deep in Jacksonville, but my story is also shaped by my family’s journey. My parents immigrated from Albania and now work alongside me every day. Together, we’ve built more than just beautiful homes—we’ve built a company grounded in hard work, integrity, and a genuine love for what we do.

Most people do not think much about bedroom flooring until it is time to replace it. Then it quickly becomes a more personal decision than expected.

If you are exploring ideas for flooring in bedrooms, the best choice is rarely the most trendy one. It is usually the one that fits your daily routine and holds up quietly over time.

At AP Advanced, we see this firsthand in homes throughout Jacksonville and across Northeast Florida. The best results tend to come from a simple approach: clear design choices, practical materials, and flooring that feels right in real life, not just on paper.

The First Steps to Starting a Bedroom Flooring Project

Before choosing between wood flooring, tile, or any other material, there are more important aspects to consider. Start by getting clear on a few practical questions:

  • What is your overall budget for the flooring project?
  • Are you planning to handle the installation yourself or hire a professional flooring contractor?
  • Is this a standalone update, or part of a larger remodel (such as a full bedroom or whole-home renovation)?
  • What is your main goal: improving aesthetics, increasing durability, or upgrading long-term home value?
  • How much maintenance are you realistically willing to handle after installation (cleaning, refinishing, repairs)?
  • Are you prioritizing upfront cost savings or long-term performance and lifespan?
  • Do you need flooring that coordinates with future renovations in other areas of the home?

When these factors are not defined early, homeowners tend to browse bedroom flooring ideas without a clear direction, which often leads to decision fatigue or costly revisions later.

You should start with a scope, budget, and expectations, then narrow everything down to flooring options that actually fit the project. For a broader overview of how these decisions connect across different spaces, you can also explore our flooring guide for your home.

Hardwood: The Most Natural Kind of Warmth

There is a reason hardwood keeps showing up in master bedroom flooring ideas year after year. It feels honest. It feels familiar. It feels like a real home.

It is also one of the few materials that gets better emotionally over time. Not because it changes, but because you live into it.

Hardwood works especially well when:

  • You want a calm, timeless bedroom aesthetic
  • You like natural materials with visible grain and variation
  • You are designing a primary bedroom that sets the tone for the home

In Florida homes, engineered wood is often the more stable choice. It gives you the same visual warmth with better performance in humidity.

Tile in Bedrooms: Quietly Practical, Surprisingly Beautiful

Tile is one of those materials that people underestimate in bedrooms until they experience it done well.

Modern bedroom tile flooring isn’t what most people imagine. We are not talking about cold, glossy surfaces. We are talking about large-format porcelain, matte finishes, and wood-look designs that feel intentional and architectural.

Tile makes sense when:

  • You want extremely low maintenance
  • You prefer a cooler surface in warmer climates
  • You like a clean, minimal design language

In Jacksonville homes, tile is often chosen for its practicality, but it stays because of how refined it can look when installed correctly.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring: Design Flexibility With Consistent Performance

Luxury vinyl plank has become a design tool in modern bedroom flooring, not just a functional surface. What makes it useful in well-planned remodels is the level of control it gives over tone, texture, and overall visual continuity.

In bedroom design, it allows for specific outcomes such as:

  • Creating a seamless flow between bedrooms, hallways, and main living areas
  • Achieving a uniform wood-look surface without variation between rooms
  • Keeping the design visually calm by reducing transitions and material breaks
  • Matching warmer or cooler interior palettes without changing flooring systems

From a design standpoint, it performs best when the goal is restraint. Instead of drawing attention, it supports the architecture of the space and allows furniture, lighting, and layout to take priority.

Wide-Plank Engineered White Oak With Low-Contrast Finish

One of the most common premium bedroom flooring ideas in full-home remodels is wide-plank engineered white oak in a low-variation, matte or natural oil finish.

This is typically specified with:

  • Plank widths in the 6” to 9” range for fewer visual seams
  • Light to medium natural tones (not heavily stained)
  • Minimal color variation to maintain a calm surface across the room
  • Matte or ultra-matte finishes to reduce glare from natural light

This combination is often used in primary bedrooms where the goal is to create continuity with adjoining hallways or living spaces while keeping the bedroom visually quiet. It also performs well in Florida conditions when installed as engineered wood over a properly prepared subfloor.

Oversized Stone-Look Porcelain for a Continuous, Spa-Like Bedroom

Another high-end direction in bedroom flooring ideas is oversized porcelain tile designed to mimic natural stone. The key is scale and restraint, not decoration.

This is typically specified with:

  • Large-format slabs or tiles with minimal grout lines
  • Soft limestone, travertine, or warm neutral stone visuals
  • Matte finishes that avoid reflection and visual noise

In bedroom spaces, this creates a continuous surface that feels stable and grounded, often extending into ensuite bathrooms or dressing areas for a unified suite-style layout.

The Florida Factor Most People Underestimate

Designing flooring in Florida is not the same as designing in cooler, drier climates. Humidity is not a design detail. It is a daily condition. Whether it is wood or tile, the question is always the same:

Will this still perform well here in five years?

That mindset changes how you evaluate every option, especially when comparing flooring designs for bedroom spaces across a whole-house remodel.

How We Approach Bedroom Flooring at AP Advanced

Every flooring project starts with understanding the space within the context of the entire home, not as an isolated room. From there, a clear path is created from concept to installation so the result feels intentional and well-integrated. Our process is straightforward:

  • Develop a design direction that fits the home’s layout and existing style
  • Create a 3D model so homeowners can visualize flooring options before work begins
  • Select materials based on appearance, durability, and long-term performance
  • Complete installation as part of a coordinated remodel for a seamless finish
