Showroom Manager & Designer

I’m Josie, the Remodeling Designer and Office Manager here at AP. At 21, I’ve grown up around construction and design, and now I have the privilege of leading our creative process and connecting with clients to bring their dream spaces to life. I also create 3D renderings for our client projects to help them visualize the finished design before we even begin. On top of that, I manage our marketing and social presence—so if you’ve seen our work online, I probably had a hand in sharing it!

My roots run deep in Jacksonville, but my story is also shaped by my family’s journey. My parents immigrated from Albania and now work alongside me every day. Together, we’ve built more than just beautiful homes—we’ve built a company grounded in hard work, integrity, and a genuine love for what we do.

Most bathroom remodels do not start with a vision of a spa. They start with a practical need to improve an outdated space. Over time, as layout, materials, and lighting come together, the goal often shifts toward something more refined and comfortable.

At AP Advanced, we treat modern spa-like bathroom features as more than decorative upgrades. They are part of a complete construction system built for durability, waterproofing, and long-term use across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida homes.

What Defines a Spa-Like Bathroom?

A spa-like bathroom is not defined by individual upgrades or specific fixtures. It is defined by how the entire space behaves when everything works together. The goal is not decoration, but a sense of calm that comes from order, flow, and consistency in how the room functions every day.

At its core, it is about a few simple but important principles:

  • The space feels open, not segmented or cluttered
  • Materials for a bathroom remodel are chosen for durability and ease of maintenance, not just appearance
  • Lighting supports both function and relaxation, depending on the time of day
  • Storage is built in, so surfaces stay clear and visually quiet
  • Water, moisture, and temperature are controlled rather than left to chance

When these elements are aligned, the bathroom changes in a subtle but noticeable way. It becomes easier to use, easier to maintain, and more comfortable to spend time in. That is what creates the spa-like feeling, not a single feature, but the way everything works together without friction.

Modern Spa-Like Bathroom Features That Can Shape Your Space

Even if you are exploring a few bathroom upgrade ideas or planning a full spa-like bathroom remodel, the same principles apply. The most successful results come from treating layout, materials, and lighting as one connected system rather than isolated changes.

Walk-In Showers With Frameless Glass

A frameless glass shower is what usually sets the tone for a spa-like bathroom. It opens the space up visually, lets light move freely, and removes that boxed-in feeling you get with traditional enclosures. It also makes daily use simpler, from entering the shower to keeping everything clean.

What makes it work in real construction is what you do behind the surface:

  • Solid waterproofing behind every wet wall and corner
  • A properly sloped shower pan so water moves where it should
  • Smart drain placement to avoid puddles or slow drying areas
  • Careful glass installation so everything stays aligned and sealed over time

In a place like Florida, where moisture is constant, these details are not optional. When they are done right, the shower stops feeling like a “feature” and starts feeling like a calm, reliable part of the home you use every day.

Large-Format Tile for a More Seamless Finish

Large-format tile is one of those choices that quietly changes how a bathroom feels. With fewer grout lines, the space looks calmer, more continuous, and less visually busy. It is a small shift in pattern that makes a big difference in how refined the room feels day to day.

In practice, it also makes life easier:

  • Less grout means less scrubbing and maintenance over time
  • Surfaces read as one continuous plane instead of being broken into sections
  • Floors and shower areas blend more naturally into each other
  • The entire bathroom feels more intentional and cohesive

In spa-like bathroom design, this approach is less about making a statement and more about removing noise from the space. When done well, the result feels smooth, balanced, and easy to live with.

Floating Vanities That Keep the Space Light and Functional

A floating vanity does more than change how a bathroom looks. It changes how the space feels day to day. By lifting cabinetry off the floor, the room feels more open, easier to clean, and less visually heavy, which is a key part of that spa-like atmosphere.

When designed properly, it also works harder than it looks:

  • Deep drawer storage that keeps daily items organized and out of sight
  • Moisture-resistant materials that hold up in a bathroom environment
  • Integrated sinks and countertops that reduce seams and visual clutter
  • A cleaner floor line that makes the whole room feel more open

It is a simple shift in design, but it creates a noticeable sense of order. The bathroom feels less crowded, more intentional, and easier to live in without effort.

Freestanding Tubs That Actually Belong in the Space

A freestanding tub only feels luxurious when it has room to breathe. When it is properly placed within the layout, it becomes part of the experience of the room rather than something squeezed into it. That sense of space is what gives it its spa-like quality.

In well-designed bathrooms, a few details make all the difference:

  • Enough clearance around the tub so it feels open and accessible
  • A natural focal point, like a window or feature wall nearby
  • Simple, quiet surrounding materials that do not compete for attention
  • A layout that supports flow, not just placement

When this is done right, the tub stops feeling like an object in the room and becomes the moment the room is designed around.

Biophilic Design That Brings the Space Back to Nature

Biophilic design is becoming a defining element in modern spa-like bathrooms. It shifts the space away from feeling overly built or artificial and brings it closer to something more grounded and calm.

In practice, this is less about adding decoration and more about how materials and light are introduced:

  • Natural stone with visible texture that adds depth without visual noise
  • Warm wood tones, properly treated for moisture, to soften harder surfaces
  • Access to natural light or carefully positioned greenery, where the layout allows

When these elements are used with restraint, the bathroom feels less mechanical and more balanced. It creates a quieter atmosphere, where materials feel authentic, and the space is easier to settle into over time.

Integrated Storage to Reduce Visual Clutter

Storage is a defining factor in maintaining a spa-like environment over time. Without it, even well-designed bathrooms become visually busy.

Common solutions include:

  • Recessed shower niches for soaps and products
  • Full-height linen storage where space allows
  • Drawer-based vanities for organized daily items

The goal is to keep surfaces clear so the room maintains a calm, uninterrupted appearance.

Stone Drenching for a Calm, Continuous Surface

Stone drenching is one of the more refined directions in high-end bathroom design. Instead of combining multiple finishes, the space is built around a single, consistent material that carries across surfaces.

In practice, this usually means:

  • Full-height stone or large-format porcelain slabs across walls
  • Minimal grout lines to reduce visual interruption
  • Coordinated floors and walls that read as one continuous surface

The effect is subtle but powerful. The room feels more stable, more architectural, and far less busy. Rather than drawing attention to individual materials, the space works as a whole, which is what gives it that quiet, spa-like presence.

Creating a Spa-Like Bathroom in Florida Conditions

In Florida, bathroom design must account for humidity, ventilation, and long-term moisture exposure. These conditions affect both materials and construction methods.

Creating a spa-like bathroom in this environment requires:

  • Full waterproofing systems behind tile and wet walls
  • Proper ventilation sizing for humidity control
  • Material selection based on performance, not just appearance
  • Substrate preparation that supports long-term stability

Without these elements, even high-end finishes will not hold up over time.

Remodel Your Bathroom into a Spa-Like Retreat With AP Advanced

Every spa-like bathroom remodel at AP Advanced follows a structured, construction-first process designed to keep design, materials, and execution aligned from the beginning. The goal is a finished space that looks refined, functions properly, and performs long-term without compromise.

  1. Consultation and Project Understanding: We start by understanding how the bathroom is used today, what needs to change, and what level of finish and function the project should achieve.
  2. Layout and 3D Design Development: A detailed layout is created and supported with a 3D model so the space, proportions, and design direction can be reviewed clearly before construction begins.
  3. Material and System Selection: We guide selections based on durability, moisture performance, maintenance, and overall design consistency, ensuring every component works as part of one system.
  4. Construction and Execution: The build is completed with a focus on waterproofing, structural integrity, and code compliance, with steady communication throughout the process until completion.

This approach ensures the finished space is not only visually refined but also structurally sound. Explore our bathroom remodeling services in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, and connect with us to plan your dream space.
